Prime Minister Denzil Douglas Remains in Office
On Thursday, 8 January, Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas announced the people of the twin-island Federation would go to the polls on Monday, 25 January. Dr. Douglas sought a fourth term as Prime Minister of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. In office since 1995, the Labor Party took power from the People’s Action Movement (PAM) who had ruled since 1980. The opposition candidate, Harvard educated lawyer Lindsay Grant has led the PAM since 2000.
Campaigning commenced heavily in weeks prior to the election. Dr. Douglas turned his campaign focus toward the economy and government debt. He said in a tourism-dependent country of 40,000 people his emphasis would be building more roads and hospitals, and paying the national debt despite the global economic crisis. He also pointed out that during his 15 year rule the Federation has consistently maintained friendly relations with the United States.
On Tuesday, 26 January, it was announced that Dr. Denzil Douglas won the election and will remain Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis for the next five year term.

I have two questions
1. How much did Christophe Harbour contribute to the campaign of Denzil Douglas?
2. Is it true that Christophe Harbour funded all of or the majarity of the Labou party billboards?
If any of these questions are in the positive, I see a serious conflict.
You guys ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

Hello KP,
Christophe Harbour (and its affiliates) have not contributed any money to any political party in St Kitts. It is also untrue that Christophe Harbour paid for any political signage. We are a politically neutral company dedicated to developing the best possible resort community on the Southeast Peninsula of St Kitts.
I hope this answers your questions and concerns. You can reach me at our main office for further discussion if needed: 869-466-4557.
Sincerely,

Why are supporters of the PAM party so bitter and just throwing out allegations everywhere as to why Dr. Douglas was re-elected with such a landslide majority? The truth is the Labour Party’s campaign was just solid and would have won anyway even with no funding because PAM’s campaign was disorganized and lacked focus. Christophe Harbour is only reporting the news of Dr. Douglas’ re-election as proof of the nation’s political stability to show that it is a safe place to invest. If the rantings, ramblings and accusations continue, it would have a negative effect on investment. C.H. is probably also happy naturally because Dr. Douglas and his administration were very positive about the developments, yet they would not know where Mr. Grant’s allegiances lie. They are just happy for the stability with their project - and I can assure you that they were sure to not dip their fingers into local politics at all.
