Timothy HillKathleen is Christophe Harbour’s assiduous concierge. Originally, from Dayton, Ohio Kathleen moved to Charleston where she began her career with Kiawah Partners.  She worked as a server at the Beach Club and the River Course for more than 6 years when she learned of a new project being launched in St. Kitts. Immediately, she expressed interest in becoming part of the Christophe Harbour team. After a visit to the island, Kathleen and her husband, Nat, knew St. Kitts was the right move for their family, including daughters, Ella (9) and Molly (6), cat Bono, and Black Lab Sammy.

Kathleen says she and her family have happily adjusted to a simpler island lifestyle where their favorite activity is doing the Hash. At the Hash you can hike through Kittitian villages and explore winding trails that carry you through sugar cane fields, over railroad trestles, and into the rain forest. Since making the move to St. Kitts Kathleen has taken up running and is currently training to complete a half-marathon in Barbados next month.

Visitors to Christophe Harbour are likely to meet Kathleen as she assists with scheduling tours of the property and on-island activities like an evening catamaran cruise or a day of snorkeling. Kathleen’s favorite view of the island is from the top of Timothy Hill, a breathtaking seascape she suggests as a must-see for every guest.

How has you and your family assimilated into the Island culture coming from a place such as Ohio, which is so different from the caribbean?

How has it affected the children who can easily be bored?  Thanks

    Hi Patricia,
While St. Kitts and Ohio are worlds apart, my family and I have transitioned into the Island culture quite easily.  It helps that everyone here is so friendly and welcoming.

As for the girls, they love it.  They do many of the same activities they did in the States—soccer and swimming.  However, they also do many activities most children may never have an opportunity to do—-sailing, snorkeling, ziplining, and hiking and exploring in the rain-forest. Consequently, they are rarely,if ever, bored.
    Best Regards,
    Kat

So happy to see you called by your original name, Kathleen.

Whatever they call you, though, you know we are VERY proud of our first Ohio-born girl.

We know that your smiling face makes even the Caribbean sun so much brighter!

    Hello Kathleen,

I hope you and the family had a great new years. My wife and I are coming down in February to see if St. Kitts is a viable place to live. Having two children about the same age as yours, Caroline(8) and Smith(2) I know my wife is concerned about schools (private if available). Just seeing what you recommend. We’ll take you and your husband out for a drink(or two) to see what you suggest.

    Thanks,
    -Dan

My husband and I would love to meet you and your wife to discuss life in St. Kitts. I have a lot of information about the island schools—fortunately you have some terrific options. If you have any questions or need assistance prior to your visit, don’t hesitate to contact me. I look forward to meeting you soon.
    Kind Regards,
    Kat

My husband and I recently visited St Kitts and had a wonderful meal at The Beach House. Observation regarding life on St Kitts…. it would be nice if the government or someone with power/money could see the beauty of bike paths… it would be so nice if you could rent bikes and tour the island riding a bike and not be afraid for you life with those CRAZY taxi drivers going at break neck speed. Good luck on your adventure with Christophe Harbour…it looks like it’s going to be an amazing place. (we saw the new marina dock coming to life when we were there)

    Hi Kathleen,
I’m planning on hosting my wedding at the Beach House this fall, and Chris had mentioned that you could potentially help me with some of the planning process? I’m based in Manhattan, so my intell regarding St. Kitts bands/florists/photographers isn’t great. Therefore, any help you can provide would be ever so appreciated.

Hope to hear from you soon!
