An icon rises: Marina Village construction well underway

The Marina at Christophe Harbour has been welcoming superyachts up to 76m to its state-of-the-art facilities since February 2015, and it is now well on its way to delivering the first shoreside components of the marina early next year. The 11,000-square foot Customs House, along with the adjacent luxury retail shops, will be the anchor amenities for the emerging marina village and ensure Christophe Harbour's position as "The New Gateway to the Caribbean" and the region's ultimate homeport.

The ground and first floors of the iconic Customs House are nearly complete, and the third floor will be quickly taking shape.

In addition to the Customs House, construction is also progressing on seven retails bays, which will house the first elements of a curated collection of distinctive men's and women's luxe boutiques, an upscale home interiors and design centre, an exclusive rum bar, and much more.

To bring this next phase to life, Christophe Harbour has enlisted the Cayman-based Phoenix Group, a family-owned residential and commercial construction company. Phoenix has more than 35 years experience in the Caribbean and is well known for its high standards in design, build quality and schedule discipline.

Classic and timeless, the Customs House resembles a formidable shipping building or wharfside warehouse built long ago. Christophe Harbour's Director of Architecture John Denton Haley was inspired by historic maritime buildings from around the world and by St Kitts’ storied past. Crafting the new in the style of the old, Haley has incorporated architectural elements reminiscent of the century-old treasury building in St Kitts’ capital, Basseterre and thoughtful elements such as local volcanic “plantation” stone and handmade brick detailing throughout the three-story structure.

As with all development at Christophe Harbour, each element of the marina village has been consciously designed and planned to add value to our community and to the overall superyacht experience. Development is carefully considered to ensure that the marina and surrounding village evolves into a well-designed, dynamic and carefully curated hub. A homeport should enhance the ownership and charter experience, and such sophisticated marina-side offerings make berthing at The Marina at Christophe Harbour a pleasure.
