Construction Progress at Christophe Harbour Forges Ahead
Construction at Christophe Harbour continues with evidence of roadbeds prepared for paving, newly laid landscaping, and utility work at Sandy Bank Bay. The first home construction is well under way with expectations of an early 2010 move-in, and the golf course atop Priddies Plateau is really taking shape. Preparation for the Bungalows at Sandy Bank Bay, Christophe Harbour’s newest product offering, is underway along the hillside, and the land along the beachfront has been cleared for the Beach Club. It’s a great time to be a part of Christophe Harbour and watch the continued development progress. Site markers indicate the location for each of the hillside Bungalows at Sandy Bank Bay.

Machinery, materials, and mounds of dirt are just among the many signs of construction at the entrance to Sandy Bank Bay.

The land has been cleared at the site of the future Sandy Bank Bay Beach Club, for work to begin in early 2010.

There is a public beach access at Sandy Bank where we have provided parking and a pathway to the beach. This area remains open to the public and will be further enhanced as we complete the neighborhood infrastructure.
The main entrance to the Sandy Bank neighborhood is closed to general traffic because it is in the heart of the construction zone, where we are installing neighborhood infrastructure. We expect this work to be complete by early summer.
If you are interested in touring the site or have any questions, please contact our office at 800-881-7180.

If this development stays true to the designs I have seen and is sensitive to the residents of St.Kitts/Nevis and it’s culture, it will be at the pinnacle of standards for decades to come.

This looks like a nice development, but I have to admit I’m sad to see it happen. I’m no “environmentalist,” but this south side of the island has been our favorite since our honeymoon. We love the pristine and natural feel there. The same Salt Pond that supplied salt to the Caribs in the 1600’s will be no more.

I’m environmentally sensitive myself, but I must say that the developments at the South East Peninsula seem thus far to have aspects of environmental sensitivity. Visit the Christophe Harbour office for more information on this. I know it looks like a pristine area is undergoing haphazard construction (for now) but I assure you that all the plans in place are well thought through and will not end in environmental degradation. Great Salt Pond and Little Salt Pond indeed will be no more, but since locals stopped picking salt and the krill shrmip there stopped growing in their numbers, it truly had no value except aesthetics. The plans in place will not only give it economic value, but would also enhance its aesthetics via the works and upgrades. I am glad that fellow Kittitians are showing such interest though
